|
The role of the Front of House Manager is to co-ordinate front-of-house and backstage activities at concerts to ensure smooth running and a high level of customer service. This includes organising staff and delegating tasks to ensure the House runs smoothly and the professional image of the Choir is upheld as soon as performers, corporate guests, and the public enter the venue. There should be a consistent 'house style', to the satisfaction of all.
One month before the concert
§ Maintain a list of stewards and contact them one month in advance. § Liaise with the Financial Manager and Treasurer to confirm cost of programmes § Liaise with the Box Office manager
Delegated tasks on the day § Liaise with the box office staff to ensure that any special seating arrangements are set out and seating labels accord to seating plan § Ensure disabled access is available, including car parking § Liaise with the caretaker to ensure toilet signs are made clear + § Ensure car park signs and safety jackets are available + § Check the venue's Health & Safety requirements § Check Lighting, which may require adjustment during the concert § Liaise with the treasurer to ensure floats for programme and tickets § Agree ‘doors open time’, as published on the ticket § To be responsible for leading the duty team: § Brief 16* stewards 1 hour before the concert begins and distribute tasks:
1. Car Park attendants (2) 2. collect tickets (2) 3. sell tickets (2) 4. sell programmes - queue (2), point of sale (2) and towards seats (2)* 5. welcome audience and guide them gracefully to their seats (4) (This will include separating pre-paid tickets from the queue)
After the concert§ Ensure the seating area and ticket area is free of litter § Collect spare programmes for prospective recruitment mailings § Deliver money to treasurer
* Notes § As arrangements may vary according to venue, the treasurer will need to know the exact number of programme sellers and ticket sellers in order to prepare the floats and also maximise security.
